A Fresh Perspective on Black History Month

For 2012, the theme for Black History Month is “Black Women in American History.” What impact did women have on the mainstream American culture as well as in the African-American community?

There are countless stories to tell and many faces to show this month. As we celebrate Black History Month at African Extravaganza this month, we encourage you to take some time and celebrate it too.

Find new stories you never heard. Investigate facts you had not known. Look for people you did not know existed. May they always be remembered and never forgotten. And we will do the same.

Happy Black History Month.
